Hey everyone! Hope Memorial Day was great to you all. We had a great run in the Open Joist Dodge truck at Mansfield , even though it was an 8 hour day with all of the rain delays. It’s hard to race like that. First of all, it’s Ohio in summer so it was really humid. You get in the truck, run 10 laps and then the caution comes out. It’s raining, red flag. Everyone to pit road, out of the truck and hang out for an hour then back in and back out on the track. It’s hard to get into a groove like that.

I was really pleased coming from 27th and finishing 10th on a short track that’s hard to pass, with over 100 laps of caution. We were the 6th best truck in final practice, and I was really excited for qualifying. We had an early draw which I wouldn’t think would hurt us…until it rained about an hour prior to the start of qualifying. In order to dry the track, they bust out 4 jet dryers and get all the water off the track. Only down fall to that is the big jets they pull behind the trucks leave jet fuel down on the track and the first 10 trucks had zero grip. But, we worked hard and ran with some fast guys most of the day and finally got us a top 10. First one for a Dodge truck all year, and my team mate Ken Schrader ran 3rd.

I’m excited to get the extra races in the truck, plus the 7 more in the Texaco/Havoline Busch car. Starting next week at Nashville , we have 3 straight races plus running the truck and the Busch race in Milwaukee . Mike Bliss and I are splitting the rest of the year, and I appreciate Bobby Hamilton Racing, Dodge and Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates letting me run these races. They’re a blast.

We’ve added a new photos section with a bunch of personal pictures Mandi or I have taken over the last couple of years. Something new, something different…trying to keep KH.com fun.

Thanks to everyone for visiting the site, listening to the Pod Casts, and buying the KH Gear. Mandi and I really appreciate the support!

Never expected Nashville to be so cold in April, but oh my… It was freezing! The guys on the team were teasing me because I found a corner in the hauler and pretty much didn’t move all weekend. I had my book and magazines, so I was set. The most time I spent outside was during the race, but I made sure to be bundled up!

It was so good to see Kevin back in his element – doing what he loves again. Everything seemed to fall right in sync with the crew, Kevin, basically everything. It was a great weekend. I know that Kevin was bummed about the fender issue on the first lap – that really caused trouble for them the whole rest of the race. The guys worked so hard at getting the fender back into shape and keep Kevin in good track position. Considering the damage, a comeback to 18th was fantastic, I think.

So now we’re back to several weeks of Kevin traveling while Tucker and I hang out at home. I think it might be nice for a while since we’ve been so busy lately – Bristol , Seattle , Nashville … I don’t know how Kevin does it every single weekend. I’m worn out after three in a row! Still, I can’t wait for his next race!

Take care!
