Statement Regarding #42 Busch Car

First and foremost I’d like to thank Chip, Felix and Texaco/Havoline for giving me the opportunity to fill in for Juan Pablo Montoya in the No. 42 Busch car this season. It was great being in top equipment, with top crew chiefs and being competitive in the races we competed in. With two straight top-10 finishes, it felt great behind the wheel and I can’t wait for the future.
As everyone knows, the team along with Texaco/Havoline, started the No. 42 Busch program to give Casey Mears more seat time last year and to help develop Juan Pablo Montoya as a stock car driver this year. The team believes at this point in Montoya’s development, the Busch races are becoming far less meaningful because seven of the last 11 Busch races are COT Cup companion events. It can be pretty difficult running a COT car and Busch car on the same weekend, so the team just felt this was the most logical move. Juan’s fast development in stock cars this year has been impressive and now he will be able to focus 100 percent on his NEXTEL Cup ride. With that, the resources of the Busch team are better spent on the Cup side, as well...

I still have two Craftsman Truck Series races with Bobby Hamilton Racing (Gateway and Las Vegas ) this season and plenty of testing for CGRFS scheduled.

We are working on 2008 in the NASCAR Busch Series, and as soon as more information becomes available we’ll let you know. Next season looks very bright for me with Ganassi, and I can’t wait to get started.
