Kevin Hamlin took home all the hardware on Saturday night at Evergreen Speedway in the track's season opener, the Speedway Chevrolet 125. Hamlin, driving a car prepared by Ron Fritzley, took the opportunity to return to his home track and did not disappoint the many fans in attendance.
Hamlin started off the night by setting the fast time in qualifying with a lap around the 5/8 mi. track of 23.190 seconds. He would then go on to win the four-lap trophy dash starting from outside row two.

In the 125 lap main event, Hamlin started the race from the sixth position because of a six-car invert. It would take him only 34 laps to put his no. 42 car out front, but Hamlin was challenged later by local racer Kelly Mann for the top spot. Hamlin would win the race after it was called on lap 93 because of rain.

"I had a great time coming home to Evergreen Speedway to race," Hamlin said. "Ron Fritzley, Naima Lang and crew gave us a great car all weekend. We only had to make a couple of adjustments to the car after we took it off the trailer Friday night. We did fight a power steering issue all weekend, but other than that it was perfect. Coming home and having such a great car and winning the race capped it all off."

After the race, Hamlin took the opportunity to recognize those that made the weekend possible.

"I'd like to thank Wired X Energy Drink, Lang Autosports, J & R Truck Rental and of course the great people at Evergreen Speedway for their support," Hamlin said. I had a great time chatting with all the fans that came out and racing with familiar faces. I can't wait to do it again."

Hamlin will now set his sights on his 2007 NASCAR Busch Series season debut in the Pepsi 300 at the Nashville Superspeedway on April 7th. The race is the first of eight for Hamlin this year in the no. 42 Texaco/Havoline Dodge for Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates.
